A switch is eight small parts doing one job thousands of times. Here is what each one is made of, and how we test the result.
Parts of an Ampele switch
- Switch base
- FR-grade engineering polycarbonate, UV stabilised.
- Switch knob
- FR-grade engineering polycarbonate, UV stabilised.
- Terminal screws
- Brass thread screws.
- Fixed contacts
- Brass parts with silverised heavy-duty contacts.
- Action coordinator
- Copper plated, with a silver bimetal heavy-duty contact. This is the moving part.
- Arc chamber
- Separate from the body, to minimise body temperature.
- Rocker actuator
- Transfers the press of the knob to the moving contact.
- Spring
- A special spring that keeps contact pressure consistent.
Certificates
- ISI mark
- Switches carry the ISI mark to IS 3854. ISI-marked sockets and MCBs are labelled on their product pages.
- ISO 9001:2008
- Quality management systems licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards, for the manufacture and supply of electrical accessories.
- National Test House
- Test certificates from the National Test House (Western Region), Government of India, for Ampele flush-type switches.
- CE
- Certificate of registration for the manufacturing of electrical and electronic accessories.

Testing, research and development laboratory
Our laboratory runs endurance machines that cycle switches on and off under load, and temperature-rise test apparatus that checks how warm a product gets in use.
